About Us
Our Story
Bluestone Natural Farms was founded in 2004 in Powell Butte, Oregon on a 35-acre farm owned by Onda & Michael Hueners. The decision was made in 2022 to sell that farm and purchase a 37-acre farm in Billings, Missouri (our current location).
Onda grew up on a farm in Enterprise, Oregon then moved to California for several years still having the desire to live off the land returned to Oregon, and started a farm while working as an RN on a cardiac unit. Michael grew up in Minnesota and then moved to California as a teenager. Having always had an interest in the land happily moved to Oregon to farm and continue his landscape business.
The farm in Oregon grew steadily from a few cows and chickens to many animals including cattle, hogs, goats (milk & meat), turkeys, chickens (eggs & meat), growing hay, garden, greenhouse, and a farm stand.
We then branched into having farm stays (through Airbnb and Hip Camp) that were educational and fun for our guests and us! Our farm was used as a venue for weddings, education days, farm-to-table dinners, and the like.
Then came the decision to move to Missouri and start our farm over while in retirement. We currently have cattle (only a few), goats (dairy), hogs (a mating pair plus one litter and a second the way), meat chickens (already have about 30 in the freezer), laying chicken (lots of fresh eggs!), guinea hens (for pest control and security alerts!). We produce hay, vegetable gardens, hoop houses, composting, clean-up of overgrown woods, and lots of fence repairs!
